Mio has become very popular as a low calorie water enchancer, but is it bad for you? As with most things, there is no simple answer to this. You’d be better off drinknig plain water, but life is boring if we never indulge in the spices of life. So is Mio a spice worth indulging? Let’s start with the ingredients. The various flavors have slightly different ingredients, but the are essentially the same so we’ll show only one.
There is the common low calorie sweetener (sucralose), common coloring, and a preservative. The ingredient that some people worry about is PROPYLENE GLYCOL. These fears are often exaggerated. There have been numerous studies into PG and the potential negative consequences for short term and long term consumption are very low at these levels. Having said that, plain water is always better, but if you really need some variety in your life then Mio is no worse than typical processed foods. It’s better to be hydrated from Mio than not hydrated.
